Gambler? Here’s a Sure Thing!
What if you are right and I am wrong? What if there is no God? What if there is no Heaven or Hell? Then we both went through life doing what we loved and when we die, that’s it. The end.
B U T . . . . , what if I’m right and you are wrong? What if there is a God? What if there is a Heaven and a Hell? Then I what? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
I will be in Heaven with God, and you will burn for ETERNITY in Hell.
Have you ever been burned? Even a small burn will hurt. What if you were burned over a large part of your body and the pain lasted for months. What if you went to Hell and burned for ETERNITY? This is the biggest gamble you will ever make. Losing money, cars or homes can be devastating, but what about losing the gamble you are taking with God?
But you’re still not worried, are you? God is good and he wouldn’t send a good person to hell. You believe your good because you haven’t done anything bad. You’re not like those criminals in jail or a sex offenders or serial killers. If you made it this far and you believe God is good, then you at least acknowledge God.
The problem with good is that we created the definition based on comparison. We define it by comparing bad things until we find an acceptable or favorable condition. Since you have acknowledged God then let’s see what God says by looking into the Word of God, the Bible.
Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags.
We may be good in our own eyes but in God’s eyes we are unrighteous sinners. HOWEVER, God provided a way for us to find favor with him.
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeith unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10: 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
When did Christ die for us? After we stopped sinning? After we promised to do better? NO. Christ died for us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8).
If you have been employed by someone, then after you completed the job or after a week’s work you expected to get paid. You expected money, cash, check, etc. What if your employer said “here is a bushel of tomatoes”? Would you say ok and take it? No, you wouldn’t. You would say he owed you money. It is the same with sin. The wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). In this case “Death” is defined as eternity in hell.
If you have followed along so far then you should be asking what can I do to stay out of hell. The short answer is there is nothing you can do because Jesus has already paid the price for your sin. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. God’s gift is like any other gift, you must accept it and open it. You might be asking “how do I open this gift from God”? Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeith unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Romans 10: 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
You need to pray and ask God to forgive you of your sins and tell Him that you believe with your heart that He sent his only Son to die on the Cross to pay for your sin. Here is an example by Billy Graham of what you might pray.
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name.
Amen.
If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior, Please leave us a comment so we can pray for you.
